B I O G R A P H Y

Mauricio Garza Salazar was born in Monterrey, Mexico and started his formal piano studies early on in his childhood at the main Music and Dance School. He then moved to Vienna, Austria to pursue a concert and pedagogic degrees at the Vienna Music Conservatory and the University of Music and Dramatic arts. He concluded his studies with the highest grades in 2004.

 

He went on to develop a consistent career performing in festivals and concert venues throughout the years in Mexico,  Austria, Germany, Australia, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Canada, and Spain. as both a concert pianist and chamber musician. Important venues where Garza has performed include the Horowitz Hall at the “Steinway Haus” in Hamburg, Germany, the Great Hall of the Museum of the National Palace in Taipei and the prestigious Shanghai Conservatory of Music in China.

 

Parallel to his activity as a solo pianist, he works regularly as a chamber musician with Violist Dagmara Szydlo and Clarinetist Cecilia Serra with whom he founded the “Trio Schönbrunn”. He has collaborated with the Acapulco Philharmonic Orchestra and the Camerata San Juan Siglo XXI performing as orchestra soloist with piano concerti by Mozart, Chopin and Rachmaninoff.  He was also appointed as jury member at the “Jugend Musiziert Piano Competition” in its 51st edition in Germany.

 

His piano recital titled “New Horizons” with works by Bach/Busoni, Schumann, Chopin and Ravel, was introduced to audiences in Germany, Spain and Mexico in the second half of 2016 and further performances with his trio and orchestra have been taking place throughout the current year.  He concluded 2017  with performances in Mexico's most Important Piano festivals, the “Sala Beethoven”  and “Isauro Martínez” Piano festival in Monterrey and Torreon respectively. In 2018 he went on tour in Northern Germany with the Pianist Stefan Lindemann performing fors for two pianos by Schotakowitch and BrAHMS.

In 2019, Garza Salazar went on a tour that took place in Germany, Spain and Mexico. he gave a series of concerts in the cities of Bremen, Hamburg, Madrid and Palencia. He performed for the first time in renown venues like the Simón Bolívar Theater in Mexico City and the Sendesaal in Bremen, Germany.. 

 

Garza-Salazar currently lives in Bremen, Germany, where he works as a performer and as a piano pedagogue at the “Musikschule Bremen“.
